¡Short Film Fiesta!

We've put together a collection of our favorite short films by some of our favorite up-and-coming filmmakers in the country. Come join the fiesta!

Nelson George's 'All Hail The Beat'
Nelson George's 'All Hail The Beat'

Nelson George's short film, "All Hail The Beat,” honors the Roland TR-808, a programmable drum machine that hit the market in 1984.  Despite its archaic origins, the TR-808 produces a majority of the beats in popular songs today, from Kanye West to Daft Punk.

American Juggalo
American Juggalo

A look at the often mocked and misunderstood subculture of Juggalos, hardcore Insane Clown Posse fans, who meet once a year for 4 days at The Gathering of the Juggalos.

Meet Jonny Corndawg, the underground country-music legend. A born-and-bred Virginian, Jonny has played on five continents in as many years, and every state in the lower 48. Now Jonny has given himself over, heart and heel, to the world of Running.

Like most country musicians, Jonny spends more time on the road than on terra firma, more on stage than off, but with all that, Jonny is gaining a name for waking up daily, before and after every show, and burning ten miles while bandmates sleep off their evenings. Imagine Hank Williams Jr. from the belt up, Steve Prefontaine from the waistband down, throw in a gallon of water and a knack for showmanship, and what do you get? One of the great American vitalists, Jonny Corndawg.

Jonny let us follow him on a tour down the California coast as he braved injury and isolation on his quest to complete the Surf City USA Marathon in Huntington Beach, CA.

B.A Miale - Live Video Projectionist!
B.A Miale - Live Video Projectionist!

In between films at the Rocks Off Film Festival, we go into planetarium mode with a rock'n roll light show live-mixed on a keytar by psychedelic video artist, B.A Miale!

BAMiAM.tv aka B.A. Miale is an NYC-based multifaceted video artist. Aside from directing music videos for Marc Ribot, The Giraffes, Les Savy Fav, Hopewell and Moby's metal band Diamondsnake, in 2007 she figured out how to mash up video clips in real-time on a keytar.  Over sixty bands and 200 light shows later, she is a unique and explosive visual machine.

B.A. has mixed live visuals for 2 Skinnee J's, DJ Jonathan Toubin, Rain Machine (Kyp Malone from TVOTR), The Bruise Cruise Festival 1&2 (Black Lips, Thee Oh Sees, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, Fucked Up, King Kahn & The Shrines etc), Frankie Rose, The Bogmen, Vic Thrill, The Wau Wau Sisters, Dick Dale, Anna Copa Cabanna, Bosco Delrey, Corn Mo, The Giraffes, White Mystery, Camper Van Beethoven, outrageous circus acts, a rock'n roll ventriloquist and many more. Her playfully psychedelic imagery, has been spewed up and down the east coast and beyond from fancy-pants concert venues to crazy-ass art spaces.

B.A is also a full time member of three bands (Firecracker Firecracker, Ice Balloons and 2 Skinnee J's,) a creative consultant for businesses large and small (MTV Networks, Magic Fun Store Tattoos) and a rock and roll DJ for almost a decade.
